Dear Quilters, Crafters, Sewers and Artists ~
You have probably already felt the impact of the current cotton situation and The Warm Company is not immune. We have just purchased our 2011 first quarter supply of cotton at close to double the price of the previous qtr. Fortunately, recent investments in our USA manufacturing facilities increased our production capacity coupled with higher volume packaging purchases are offsetting the majority of this increase. Never the less you will see the price of Warm battings go up the first quarter of 2011. We wanted to let you know what is happening to cause this sudden increase in Warm & Natural, Warm & White, Warm Bond, Warm Blend and Warm Tater. We’ve included a link to an informative report prepared by Cotton Inc. that describes in detail what is happening with cotton worldwide and what we are faced with for the next two years. In a nut shell, cotton is a commodity traded on the world market. India, a large producer, will not export any cotton this year and while China is the largest producer of cotton in the world, their demand far exceeds their capacity leading them to purchase US cotton significantly driving up the cost for everyone. The Warm Company will continue to purchase only the highest grade US grown cotton because you expect nothing less than the perfect, soft warm batting for your quilts, crafts and wearable arts. We wanted you, the dedicated quilters, crafters, sewers and artists, to hear this from us first. We know that you rely on The Warm Company to manufacture your favorite battings and we want you to be assured that The Warm Company will not compromise quality. Please contact us if you have any questions or require any additional information. Warm regards, |
